The Original Wheated Bourbon.
W. L. Weller is a deep and complex wheat bourbon named after William Larue Weller (1825–1899) who was a pioneering bourbon whiskey distiller in the early days of the blue grass state.
W. L. Weller is credited with being the first distiller to produce Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey using wheat as opposed to rye in the mash bill.
After the introduction of his original wheated bourbon in 1849, Weller founded a very successful bourbon trading company. Weller marketed his product with the slogan, “Honest Whiskey at an Honest Price.”
This is a firm favourite for any wheated bourbon lover.
The deep-bronze colour beautifully reflects the light with perfect purity. Aromas of lanolin, almond oil, creamed corn and toasty oak/vanilla are all equally present. A high-spirited, lusciously toasty bouquet that has ‘top-notch’ bourbon written all over it. Dry, complex and toasty palate entry. The mid-palate flavour profile is heavily wheated, oily, layered and moderately sweet. Long, oaky and intensely grainy finish.
